The PuntAla Camping Resort is awarded the “Toscana Eco-Efficiente” 2007-2008 prize for excellent environmental practices. The award ceremony took place at the “Terra Futura” convention in Florence on May 24, 2008.

The “Toscana Eco-Efficiente” award is given to business enterprises and organizations with the most efficient environmental management. One more time, the region of Castiglione della Pescaia in Maremma stands out for the support given to an ecological and sustainable form of tourism.

A jury of experts from the Tuscany Region carefully evaluated more than 130 applications before assigning ten prizes for excellent environmental standards. The PuntAla Camping Resort won the nomination for the “Commerce and Tourism” section for the following reasons:

" The resort’s sustainable management includes an original waste recycling system with an electrical vehicle for a door-to-door pick-up service. A strong communication campaign is aimed at involving guests and raising their environmental awareness. The internal rules and regulations are grounded on the respect for nature’s resources. The water supply system with recycle of waste waters has already reduced by 40% in one year the use of this precious resource. In particular, our praise goes to the resort’s ability to combine a flourishing tourism activity with a sustainable waste management, a clever water supply system, a sustainable use of the vegetation and the use of electrical vehicles. The resort’s practices correspond with the regional standards for ecological efficiency. "

The prize consists of a communication campaign sponsored by the Tuscany Region and promoted through the national media (RAI television channels, local channels, print).

The resulting media coverage will “spread the voice” and encourage other entities to follow the good example. The objective is to promote civil participation, research and environmental innovation by bringing attention to the inherent benefits for business enterprises, public administrations, scientific institutions and, in general, for all the citizen of Tuscany.

The “Toscana Eco-efficiente” award is a response to global changes. The current economic model adopted by industrialized countries is no longer sustainable for the planet. This initiative helps to create a new environmental awareness and a stronger link between industrial development and environment in Tuscany.

The number of business enterprises with sound environmental standards is increasing as they become more competitive in an increasingly ecosensitive market.
For example, the PuntAla Camping Resort has significantly decreased costs for the disposal of waste and for the use of natural resources. Moreover, the resort’s marketing strategies point strongly to the environmental management system, the obtainment of the European Community certificate ISO 14001 and the promotion of a natural lifestyle: the pleasure of an open-air holiday, a variety of sports and a joint effort towards a healthier environment through daily actions.

The achievement of this prize would not have been possible without the precious help of various people to whom we’d like to formally express our deepest gratitude:

Sergio Agresti, Environmental Systems Manager, for having given order and feasibility to the concept of an ecologically sustainable camping resort; Andrea Baicchi and Cecilia Desiderato, from the Compagnia Sociale Servizi, for executing on a daily basis, with their personnel and vehicles, the waste recycling and collection system;
Fabrizio Vitale and Angela Giorgio, from the T.S.I. S.r.l. consulting firm in Livorno, who’ve helped us achieve the ISO 14001 environmental certificate;
The various managers (Bar Mare and Bar Centrale restaurants, Puntala Cycle Tours and PuntalaShop) for sharing our vision and for closely following the waste recycling system; The Kook Design Studio for their never-ending creativity applied to the “PuntalAmbiente” communication campaign;
Last but not the leas, all our staff who’ve given the good example to guests throughout the camping resort: at the supermarket, in the Reception, during security shifts, on the beach, during maintenance work and at the Adventure Park.
