We bring the PuntalAmbiente project to our guests through informational pamphlets, web pages, educational outreach and special events.
With the clear intention of involving our younger guests (the future of society) we created a unique testimonial, the animated seagull, who is the main character of “comic strips” and dispenses advice for an eco-friendly holiday. The seagull, here represented in the web version, strikes different poses in the
Eco-Game on the placemats in each accommodation unit.
The seagull is also present on the folding map available at the Reception office (map of the resort on one side and 10 tips for an eco-friendly holiday on the other side) and on signs in common areas and at the greatest risk of environmental pollution.
A few examples: signs along the resort’s roads and in common areas with detailed instructions on how to recycle waste through the
door-to-door system; stickers in the bathrooms encouraging a careful use of water and the
appropriate use of waste containers; signs under each beach umbrella inviting guests to use ashtrays instead of the
beach for cigarette disposal. Recently, with the new oil recycling system, the seagull is represented in the act of pouring used kitchen oil into the appropriate container on the edge of the road.
Electronic meters measure how much water is being used in each accommodation unit and in the category A pitches. In case of an excessive use (more than 200 liters of water per person, which is in any case double the limit imposed by public administration) the guest will be charged an extra cost.
According to our experience, 200 liters of water per person guarantees, if used with care, enough drinking water for three meals, dish washing and personal hygiene and enough recycle non-drinking water for flushing the toilet. The main objective of this initiative is to reduce waste of this precious resource.
All employees (the first to give the good example) from the restaurants to the first aid station, from the reception office to the sailing school, are regularly trained and kept up-to-date on our environmental rules.
