It’s born a new park for the amusement of the mountain bike lovers: Bandite Bike Park in Maremma.
It was opened on the 2nd of June 2010. It offers a unique area which will show you in few Kilometers different sceneries: mountain landscapes with almost wild woods, where it’s possible to meet boars, porcupines and curious deer and seascapes with the Elba Island, Montecristo, Pianosa and many more or less known bays (the most famous and destination of one of the routes is Cala Violina).
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE AREA
Numerous routes are specially designed and signaled by the organizing committee (if not already mapped in the area of "Le bandite di Scarlino"). Expert guides of MTB will lead you along the routes divided by difficulty (easy = blue, medium = red; difficult = black) and specialties:
8 routes
Family Bike (2 blue routes of 8/12 km, 3 red of 12/20 km and 2 black of 20/25 km, studied for the ability of mothers, fathers and children).
6 routes
Cross Country (2 blue routes of 15/20 km, 3 red of 24/40 km and 1 black route "marathon" of 60/70 km and a variety of routes accessible to bikers with different experience).
3 routes
Enduro (1 blue, 1 red and 1 black).
DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA
- The maquis, characteristic vegetation of the rocky coast of the sea, where the underbrush creates galleries single tracks & trails of various difficulties.
- The vegetation grows from the ground and l forms a luxuriant tunnel made with leaves of chestnut, beech, oak and cork;
- The underwood offers scents of black currant, wild cyclamen and many other species difficult to distinguish;
- The forest where paying attention you can see the turtles.
An area already known to the experienced local guides who accompany foreign bikers who came, especially from Germany and Switzerland, specifically for these paths and also many Italian.
A territory rich in culture and history:
do not forget that in Pian d'Alma (area of the bike park near Punta Ala) there are some Etruscan tombs, that the fortress of Scarlino and his archeological park tell us of a distant past (from Hellenic period to the late Middle Ages) while the medieval town of Castiglione della Pescaia is home to an imposing medieval castle.
An area crossed by the "wine routes", where different products can be enjoyed in numerous variations of taste (Morellino of Scansano, Monteregio of Massa Marittima, Montecucco, Bianco of Pitigliano, ...are just some of the most famous DOC).
